ACER and Aeon secure $77 million to preserve affordable housing in Brooklyn Park

As part of its transit organizing work, ACER knocked on hundreds of resident doors to talk about the most pressing issues facing African immigrants. Community members said housing issues were some of the most prevalent problems straining African immigrant families. As large affordable housing-complex owners started converting buildings to market rate in other metro-area communities, ACER saw that we needed to act to preserve affordable housing in Brooklyn Park. We learned that a senior housing complex was threatened, so we worked with the city council to recommend a sale to the affordable housing nonprofit Aeon.
